In Spain, the avant-garde has always rooted itself in the soil. Painting, sculpture, music, dance, and literature were renewed in the 20th century by turning to traditional sources: folk songs, forgotten garments, lost crafts, undiscovered landscapes. Praise of Contrast
Unexpected combinations have always been an eternal motor of creativity. The union of seemingly unrelated elements was one of the pillars of the surrealist art of the early 20th century, which sought in chance and automatism a way to break clichés and free itself from the chains of convention.

OTZ LAB embraces this noble utopia through a series of perfumes built around unusual ingredient pairings: fennel and almond, mint and vetiver, or hazelnut and lavender. From these startling associations emerge extraordinary and radically different compositions, impactful, provocative fragrances full of tension and precision: pure olfactory avant-garde evoking Madrid’s creative pulse.
EXPRESSIVE TENSION
The bottles themselves combine contrasting materials, in keeping with Oteyza’s expressive tension: a sculptural steel structure—abstract and nearly brutalist—holds a glass tube reminiscent of the scientific precision of a laboratory test tube, as if inside it breathed the discreet alchemy of ancient Madrid crafts, where art and science coexist among metal shavings and the scent of waxed wood.
